Teachers - Elementary
My name is Sra. Alexandra Gálvez Vaughan. I was born in Madrid, Spain, though I lived in Alicante, Spain for 12 years before coming to Red Deer in August. My mother is Irish and I studied at an America School in Madrid; these are the reasons I speak English as well as Spanish.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and two Master’s Degrees: one in Educational Psychology and another in Guidance Counselling. I completed all of my degrees in Spain, at the University of Alicante. I have worked as an ESL teacher in Spain for students between the ages of 3 and 16.
I’m currently the 4th grade teacher at Escuela Vista Grande School and I’m enjoying Red Deer and all the snow we’ve had so far. I moved here with my husband and my 3 and 5 year old children. It’s the first time they have seen and touched snow and I love being able to watch their reaction to all the new things around them.
I love travelling and going camping with my family. When I camp I prefer going to the mountains, since I live on the beach. When I’m in Alicante I spend most of my time on the beach, and my favorite part is watching the sun sets. I enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities, from swimming or playing beach-volley to cycling or snowboarding. I hope to be doing a lot of snow activities here, taking advantage of the cold winters. I’m looking forward to a first white Christmas with my family!
