Welcome to Escuela Vista Grande! This will be my eighth year at Escuela Vista Grande! I graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1995 from the University of Alberta and returned to the University of Alberta to earn my Master of Education in 2015. I have worked for Red Deer Public School District for 29 years and have worked at Hunting Hills High School, our District Central Office and at Joseph Welsh Elementary before moving to Escuela Vista Grande.
I have a love of languages that began at an early age. My parents are immigrants from Portugal and I only learned to speak English once I started school. Once in school, I enjoyed learning French and made French my minor in University. When I began teaching, I studied Spanish and taught introductory Spanish at Hunting Hills High School for 10 years. I enjoy traveling and visiting new places in the world with my husband Scott, my stepdaughter Alina and my son Lucas. My language skills have come in handy many times!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! I am looking forward to an amazing school year!

I am so delighted to be joining the Vista Grande family! I have been a teacher for 20 years and will be starting my fourth year as vice principal. My teaching career started in southern Ontario, where I grew up, but then I decided to see the world and taught for three years in Seoul, South Korea and then for another three years in Kuwait. During that time I also had the incredible opportunity of doing volunteer teaching in Kathmandu, Nepal and a Liberian refugee camp just outside of Accra, Ghana. Since we moved home, I have been in various schools across the division and have taught at and been a vice principal at both the elementary and middle school levels. Needless to say, I'm very excited to be at Escuela Vista Grande with both elementary and middle school and an International Spanish Academy at that!
